Getting ready for next year's derby

Yup, we are almost there! I have started getting the DD2014 blog website ready to go with the expert help of Ms. Tammy Vasa.  I will be putting together each Team page and need everyone who is continuing in the derby to email me and let me know.  At the same time;  please look at your bio and picture and send me any additions or corrections.  

Just a reminder, ALL DD2013 miles must be posted by January 7th to be counted in the final tally.  I won't be updated the spreadsheet until January 7th after 10:00pm Central time, so please get your last miles in by then.  Hope everyone had a great DD2013!

December 23rd Leaderboard Update

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Here is Team 60 Montana Spots Peggy Ann and friends at a Christmas parade on a cool 25* evening (note, I said cool not brrr cold---as only someone who lives in Montana would say LOL).  

Only 1 more week of the DD2013.  It has been a wonderful journey with everyone and I hope to see all of you signing up for DD2014.  Please send me an email at distance derby @ gmail . com (no spaces) if you want to be in the DD2014.  

Also, I started a Facebook Group called DD2014 where everyone can post their own pictures and stories to share with everyone.  Let me know if you want to join that group and I will send you an invite :-)

December 16 Leaderboard Update

December 16th Leaderboard Update is here.  Only 15 more days to ride in 2013.  Hopefully we get a few more good riding days.  I rode today and it was a beautiful day! 

Inquiring minds want to know if there will be a Distance Derby 2014 and the answer is Yes!  All the rules and regulations will be the same as the last 2 years.  More information will follow in the next two weeks.  If you would like to be in the DD2014 please send me an email to distance derby @ gmail . com (no spaces).  OH!  Also be sure to put your Team # in your email so it is easier for me to find.  Thanks :-)

December 11th Leaderboard Update

December 11th Leaderboard Update is here....yes it is late....no I have no excuse except it was  #%^&#*  cold and since I couldn't ride, I didn't update the leaderboard.  Whine, whine, whine!    It does look like the weather will get up to a balmy 30* for the next 2 or 3 days, so I will ride some.  Yay!!  Hope ya'll get some riding in also before the year ends :-)  

End of November Leaderboard

Here is the Leaderboard for the end of November.  Lots of great riding done this Thanksgiving weekend!  We were blessed with wonderful weather here in Nebraska!  I waited until today to post it so as many people as possible could get their November miles recorded.  

Black Friday Ride or "Ride or Shop" No Brainer

Thanksgiving was great and all, but Friday was awesome!  Black Friday the day when some people get crazy with shopping and spending money, but others would rather spend time with their horses and friends. The Third annual Black Friday ride at Branched Oak was a beautiful day with fluffy white clouds, almost no wind and temps in the high 50's!  Perfect.  We rode about 8 miles and when we got back to the trailers we had chili and cinnamon rolls.  Yummmmm.  I hope ya'll got a chance to spend time with your horses this Thanksgiving weekend, as we are all thankful we have our 4 legged friends and 2 legged friends. 

November 25th Leaderboard Update

November 18th Leaderboard Update

November 18th, only 6 weeks to go, so get out there and ride :-)  This past weekend was beautiful with great weather here, but I didn't ride at all.  Nope, instead I went to the Nebraska Horse Expo and had a great time and learned that I sure don't know much about riding.  So my solution.....go out and ride more!  

Seriously though, I have a lot to learn to communicate with my horse correctly.  How about you?

November 11th Leaderboard Update

Here we are down to about 7 weeks left of riding and it is getting colder and less opportunities to ride.  How close are you to your 2013 Derby goal?  I have met and exceeded my goal this year.  I have almost ridden twice as far this year over my best year in Iowa.  I am a very happy rider :-)  We all still have time to get closer to our goals but with the weather you need to be more dedicated or crazy.  You decide which one YOU are :-).   

November 5th Leaderboard Update

Here is the Leaderboard update for the 1st week of November.  Remember, remember the 5th of November.......(name that movie).  Heading into the cold months of the year, sure hope we still get some good riding days before the year is done.  Dress warm and keep riding :-)  Congrats to Team 22 who leads the way with 1500 miles.

October 28th Leaderboard Update

October 28th Leaderboard Update and it was a wild week for riding for alot of people :-)  I even took my computer on my vacation down to Eminence, MO to make sure I kept it updated and I was very busy every nite posting everyone's rides.  It was a great week for riding....yes....a little cold, but great :-)

Well here is this week's leaderboard a little late.  I would say I am sorry but I'm not :-)  I am on a horse riding vacation in Eminence, MO with friends and having a fabulous time :-)  I have been reading about everyone's great vacations will I was waiting for mine and here it is!  Have a great week all.... October 7 Leaderboard Update

Here we are at the final quarter of the year.  Three more months of 2013.  My favorite time to ride.  I noticed the trees are starting to change colors and loose their leaves.  I'm hoping for a long, mild autumn.    Heard a great joke....Autumn is the only time that fall and riding should be in the same sentence :-)  Loved this!  Happy fall riding everyone :-)

End of September Leaderboard

End of September and a LOT of riding being done this past week.  Congrats to Team 14 for leading the way with over 1429 miles!!!  Have a great October everyone :-)

NOTE:  Tammy wanted me to pass along a message.  The Distance Derby shirts had a spelling error (can you find it?) and if you want to return it for a replacement you may do so. Some colors may not be available now because the supplier ran out.  She will not cover shipping costs, so that would be $4.00 to be paid in advance and you will have to send back your original T-shirt.   Please contact her directly with questions and more information.

 (BTW,  She will have to pay for it out of her own pocket since she made the error and none of us caught it all the many times we saw the logo before it went to inking.  Personally I am keeping mine since I never saw the typo and most other people who see the logo when I wear it won't see it either. :-))

September 23 Leaderboard Update

Happy Autumn everyone!!! 

 I love this time of year with all the leaves changing colors and cooler weather and less bugs :-)   Let's hope we have a long autumn with great cool crisp days for lots of riding!

September 9 Leaderboard Update

First week of September Leaderboard.  I waited until today to update the board so more people who did the NHTC Trail Challenge could post their miles.  So here it is :-)

End of August Leaderboard

This is the end of August Leaderboard and we now have 4 teams over 1000 miles!  Congrats to Team 22 who leads the board with Team 14 less than 5 miles behind!  August was a great month for riding even with the heat.  Happy and safe trails for everyone this September!
