Team 14 - Messick*

Hi! I’m Brenda and this is my 2nd year in the Derby.  My main horses will be Shaggy, a 10 year old QH gelding until I sell him, as well as 2 Rushcreek Arabian mares, Allie, 7 (pictured) and Bonita, 6.  I raise QH’s and will soon be raising some Rushcreek bred foals!  I’m a Centered Riding instructor and I train and give riding lessons.

My focus has changed from preparing horsemanship riders for the show pen to teaching riders to become more balanced and confident riders.  I’ve been riding CTR’s (Competitive Trail Rides) and this year will add some Endurance Rides.  I ride the fields around me as well as try to go to area places to trail ride.  

My goal this year is 2000 miles and I hope to keep up with Christine and Juanita! LOL  My other goal is riding the Tevis Educational Ride, riding in at least 6 CTR’s, and at least three 50 mile endurance rides.  I need to set goals and then it seems like it’s easier to meet them!
