Team 73 - Maiwald*

Hi All.  I'm from Missouri Valley, Iowa and live in the beautiful Loess Hills.  Horses have been a major part of my life Forever!

My go to horse is a Black and White Tennesee Walking Horse, Rocks Strollin Jim AKA Domino! We've been a team for almost 9 years now and I think he is 17 years old this year. The other horse I'll be riding is my 3/4 Arab/Paint cross that I've raised.  He is the last baby I'll ever have and the blood of my all time favorite horses over the last 30+ years pulses through his veins.  He's tall and pretty and full of personality - my dream horse 20 years ago!

I love to trail ride and camp with friends and competitive trail riding! Happy Trails!

  1. Looking forward to tracking my miles next year and riding new places on my new bay mare. I'm planning on backing the work load off Domino, my favorite ride, and getting Tini ready to step into his big horse shoes! He's been an awesome horse and now I need to get one more awesome horse going! Looking forward to traveling and riding some new places - goal to get to camp moses, ride some places in Kansas I haven't been to for a few years, hopefully go back to the Black Hills for another fab vacation with Tammy and Montanna Spots and others!

  2. Missing riding, looking forward to some warmer weather hopefully soon! Between hunting season and now bitter cold I just hurry out to do chores and come back in to the fireplace! Happy New Year everyone and lets ride in 2013.

Beautiful day high 40's and I only ride 1.52 miles! Geesh, between hunter out behind me and unters just to the east of me, high winds and slick footing and then some fools that think the gravel road i a race track, thats all I could manage! Miss Tini is on board. We did refresher on ground basics and we tried to ride. She was a good girl except for the race cars and handled that pretty well. Remembered the sidepass lesson we had the last time I rode her and learning to cross over!

Sadly lacking behind last year for January but ahead of February. I should have rode this morning when there was no wind, but I opted to wait till it warmed up and of course that brought the wind. Still slick with this freeze and thaw going on. Rode Mr D. He negotiated a hidden icy patch quite well. So wish I had an arena to ride in at this time of the year....

  11. 2.45 yesterday on Tini for a total of 21.52 miles.

She did a drop and roll in the snow then ran off and broke my new reins. Sigh. switched out the reins and no more problesm. She did walk right into the trailer when we practiced that.

Should not have to force myself outside to ride in April! Had to remind myself that this is predicted to be the best day this week temp wise! Brrrr. Hope went with and immediately got lost. Spent the time looking for her in the creek brush. Finally gave up and decided to go home and get the truck and look on foot. Got home and there she was! Not sure how that happened but sure was glad to see that little dog.
