Team 129 - MustangsRUs

I have been riding as long as I can remember, and owned horses for about 30 years.  Dakota is my mustang gelding, and I also ride my quarter horse mare Cassie.

My daughter just moved to Arkansas to work at a tiger sanctuary so I it is going to be a little different riding this summer without her.

My husband and I live just west of Pleasant Dale.

  4. Rode Dakota - very very windy today. Clouds moved in and the wind picked up as we called it a day.

  6. Bitter sweet ride today in memory of my grandmother.. My grandmother passed away this morning and she was my inspiration for my love of the country. The rest of my family, immediate and extended, are all "city" people. She and my grandfather loved the country, the animals, the tranquility. Had to keep the ride shot so I can join my family in town to handle things.

    1. How very fitting and awesome that you honored your grandmother's memory with a horseback ride today. I'll bet she would be very proud of you! This will be part of your great memories of her. Marvel

  12. Took Dakota out for what I thought would be a longer ride, but a call from the hubby (which scared Dakota to death) letting me know we were due for lunch with his folks cut it short. Very windy on the roads today, although quite pleasant out when not in the wind.
Have to figure out why our collie insists on throwing a fit when I go out to ride. He barks the entire time I am outside regardless of if he is inside or out.

Dakota was quite a handful tonight. Spent the night doing basics with him since he seems to have forgotten that the end game was to ride forward not sideways.

  14. 2.45 miles on Dakota today, and a lot of time with Winter (5 years), the neighbor's granddaughter. She put in another bit on him as well, and Cassie got a good ride in with Quin. Beautiful day, and always fun to watch this her ride also.

  15. Put time in on Cassie today. Winter (the neighbor's granddaughter) was over again too and she got some time in on Ezra - the shetland we are training.
2.23 miles 62 minutes. Wasn't sure if the weather would hold out, and did get sprinkled on a bit, but turned out beautiful!

  17. Weather is finally dry, and trying to get some miles in both for the horses and for my sanity.

Natalie is back off to Arkansas, and I put a couple miles on today.
2.37 in 29 minutes. Was a nice ride, not long, but nice.

  18. Short ride in tonight, 1.40 miles in 19.02 minutes. With the wind Dakota was a bit spooky, but had a nice time!

  19. Finally! Got a ride in tonight and remembered to track it!

2.2 miles in 30 minutes. Wanted to keep going but fresh trimmed hooves on gravel was creating some tender feet so we kept it short.

  20. Friday 1.4 miles in 18 minutes, short but fun!
Saturday 1.4 miles (really need to mix it up a bit, but too muddy to do much) 19.2 minutes

Sunday - well, hopefully yet later tonight..Salt dogs game and the day with family today, so didn't get a ride in.

  21. 1.84 miles in 24 minutes on Dakota today in some very wet conditions. Rode around our hay pasture mostly, just checking to see what kind of crop we are going to get. So much better than last year from the looks of it!

    Was a nice sunny afternoon.

  22. I noticed everyone else is putting their "total miles" and I hadn't been. Nothing new to add today, but my total for the season is 33 miles.

  23. Beautiful sunny afternoon for a ride today!! And a great way to put in a few miles now that it is dry enough. 3.2 miles in 1 hour 5 minutes, would have been faster but the county decided to dig new ditches with all the rain, and left the mud clods all on the road. Narrow road, Dakota not wanting to really be near the big scary clods, and a truck with a loaded trailer...made for a bit of a slow down and some dancing around.

But all in all a good ride. 35.2 miles total for the year.

  24. 2.74 miles on Saturday in 46 minutes and 1.34 miles on Sunday in 22 minutes. Humid, lots of flies biting, and had a very large and scary tractor coming to eat us, but all in all a great weekend! Total year to date 39.28.

Want to get more riding in! Maybe after we get the hay put up (weather pending this week)

  25. Finally a good riding weekend!
Today we got in 3.52 miles in 46.57 minutes
Saturday was 4.19 miles in 1 hour 15 minutes (slow going due to lots of "new" sights on the road since the tree trimmers had been through topping trees on the road under the power lines. They left behind some pretty mutilated trees, open spots, and big piles of mulch so Dakota had to check out the new sights.

    Total: 46.99 miles.

Have gotten in a few other rides, but neglected to GPS track them. Need to get better at that!

  26. I didn't get a ride in today, but both Dakota and Cassie spent close to 3 hours with my relatives riding them around. Was just too hot to ask them to take me out after :-) Was a great day!

  27. Augh! Forgot to record some rides, and with the heat and all our company my horses are getting the miles in but I'm not as much.
Just got in a short ride for 2.7 miles in 43 minutes on Dakota. Both Dakota and Cassie have been hard at work with my brother's friends kids, my niece and her boyfriend, my uncles grandchildren..the list goes on. All in all still getting them exercise, just need to increase mine :-)

  28. And yet another weekend out of town, but got home in time to get my standard in. 2.7 miles in 45 minutes on Sunday.
